I am trying to find a compatible lens for my Canon EOS 60D.Ĭonsider supporting your local economy by purchasing a lens at a local camera store. Someone should be happy to assist you. Lenses are often organized by mount, so all lenses of interest should located together. You can try them out in store. See also: What do all those cryptic number and letter codes in a lens name mean? In terms of nearest translation of Tamron to Canon terminology, the main ones are: But focus motors do not determine mount compatibility, which is about the electronic communication and the physical bayonet flanges. USD is one of Tamron's names for their version of an ultrasonic motor. USM is a designation for Canon lenses Canon bodies don't have focus motors. I see HLD Tamron lens on the market that make reference to APS-C format, but I am unsure if this is compatible with my EOS 60D. I believe I need a USD Tamron lens, but I am unsure. I would advocate considering a Canon lens as well. Most folks go to 3rd party because the options are lower cost, or don't exist in the OEM lineup. Just want to note this is an atypical reason for someone to purchase a 3rd-party lens. See also: How risky are 3rd party lenses? The one big issue with purchasing used, vintage 3rd party lenses is that over time the OEM manufacturer (in this case Canon) can change the lens mount communication protocol over time, and while Canon lenses will remain compatible, they don't care about reverse-engineered 3rd-party lenses. The easiest way to make sure a Sigma/Tamron/Tokina or other 3rd-party lens works with your 60D is to make sure they're in the Canon mount, and that they're new/current versions, or firmware upgradeable to be current. TL/DR: You want to look for "for Canon" in the description and stick with Di and Di II lenses and stay away from Di III. Canon introduced lenses designed for this smaller frame and designated them EF-S. Your 60D uses a sensor size called APS-C. This is because the original lens lineup (EF) was designed to work with the size of a 35mm film frame. Your Canon 60D can also attach to EF-S lenses. This mount has existed since 1987 - there are a lot of lenses for it, and they work with any Canon autofocus camera - film or digital. You'll need to learn about stabilization tech, which Canon calls IS and Tamron calls VC, among all of the other acronyms that will affect the lens. Unfortunately, there's no way around learning a thing or two about lens technology if you want to be an educated buyer. (Typically, the mount name will be appended to the name or the lens listed as "For Canon EF" or "For Nikon F") Note that this name does not include the actual mount, as it comes in both the Nikon and Canon flavors. Instead of offering a simple 15-30mm f/2.8 and putting the specs in the description, they name it the SP 15-30mm f/2.8 Di VC USD G2. So, why do some brands put all the crap into the product name? Simple: to show off. (It's a glass technology that affects image quality) The HLD stands for High refraction, low dispersion. (It's a designation for type of autofocus technology) The USD stands for Ultrasonic Silent Drive. I see HLD Tamron lens on the market that make reference to APS-C format but I am unsure if this is compatible with my EOS 60D. What is Nano USM and how does it compare to an STM or USM lens? See these existing questions for more info: Canon uses a couple of different types of autofocus motor in their lenses. Some Nikon cameras have an autofocus motor in the body. Do your homework on a specific lens - the brand doesn't mean much to inherent quality. That being said, there are a plethora of good lenses made by Tamron, Canon, Sigma, etc., and a plethora of absolute garbage lenses. That's all well and good I'm sure Tamron appreciates your brand loyalty. A Tamron lens is my preferred option as I used to have one for my old Minolta when I used 35mm film.

The buying rate is the rate at which money dealers will buy foreign currency, and the selling rate is the rate at which they will sell that currency. Most trades are to or from the local currency. There is no agreement in the economic literature on the optimal national exchange rate policy (unlike on the subject of trade where free trade is considered optimal). The actual patent application (Generative Audio Matching Game System, US 20120132057 A1) makes very interesting reading, and sets out the methodology that lies behind the polyphonic pitch prediction and detection within MIDI Guitar. The app is also covered in this review to put it in context with versions for other platforms.) (You might recognise the iOS version of this software from last month's App Works column in which Bill Lacey poured praise on the iOS version of the MIDI Guitar family. This unique technology is the basis for the company's first foray into MIDI guitar software, appropriately named MIDI Guitar. Jam Todayīased in Aarhus, Denmark, and founded in 2009 by Ole Juul Kristensen, Jam Origin have developed a new, patent‑pending polyphonic pitch-prediction and detection system that can operate with ultra‑low latency. Now, however, the prodigious processing power of present‑day personal computers is coming to the rescue, by moving the focus of guitar‑to‑MIDI conversion away from specialist hardware and into the world of interfaces and software. guitar‑shaped objects that can output MIDI. what we have been left with in terms of dedicated guitar‑to‑MIDI hardware are either monophonic pitch‑to‑MIDI converters or the spiritual successors of the Synthaxe - ie. As a result, The desktop version of MIDI Guitar is the most configurable, thanks to the options on the Advanced setup page. Over the years, a number of small companies have developed specialist polyphonic guitar‑to‑MIDI converters, but they have typically been too expensive to have mass appeal, and all have seemingly fallen by the wayside. The latest incarnation of this design from Roland dominates the sector today. The early approach of pairing dedicated guitars with interfaces evolved fairly swiftly into the series of guitar‑neutral, one‑box systems with integrated MIDI converter and synthesizer, driven by proprietary hexaphonic pickups. From the long list of the fallen, I have fond memories of the pioneering ARP Avatar and, in particular, of the Zeta Mirror 6 guitar, which combined fret‑scanning, capacitive touch‑sensing and pitch extraction to drive external MIDI synths with around 4ms latency via its companion Synthony rack unit.ĭespite the disappointments, guitarists like me who wanted to record into our MIDI sequencers without wrestling with keyboards soldiered on, spending our hard‑earned cash with manufacturers who tried their best to cater to our needs. Along the route, some fine products have come my way, but none has quite cut the mustard. MIDI guitar: two words that give voice to the hope and despair of my age‑long quest to find a guitar‑led route to the world of synths and samplers. Jam Origin's revolutionary software alternative is none of these things. Hardware systems for generating MIDI output from guitars are often expensive, impractical and unreliable. It also has dedicated servers for streaming, which makes it a good option for accessing streaming services. Global commercial fleet operators from both the private and public sectors, including the U.S. The market for last-mile delivery services is expected to experience heightened expansion at a compounded annual growth rate (“CAGR”) of at least 18% in the coming years, as global digital transformation continues to underpin demand. The pandemic is forecasted to have accelerated demand for e-commerce by at least five years, with the U.S. The last-mile delivery market has ballooned into a $20 billion industry in the last 18 months due to rapid e-commerce adoption during the COVID-19 pandemic. The increasing demand for last-mile delivery transportation solutions due to rising e-commerce adoption will also further propel electrification of commercial fleets in coming years. Specifically, commercial vehicle fleet conversion to electric would take priority, as the segment continues to account for more than 80% of total transportation sector GHG emissions. Global electrification of the transportation sector has been viewed as a key element to decarbonizing the economy, as it currently accounts for one of the largest portions of global greenhouse gas (“GHG”) emissions. Material catalysts such as a defined global expansion roadmap and/or consolidation with peers within the supply chain would be required to drive further upside potential in the long-run.ĭecarbonization has become an urgent ordeal within global political agendas as the world continues to trail behind the 7.6% annual emissions reduction goal required to avoid worsening impacts of climate change.Despite high-growth opportunities ahead within the last-mile delivery sector, we believe the stock's current price performance already reflects Workhorse's intrinsic value based on its five- to ten-year growth plan and scale of operations disclosed to date. However, internal headwinds, such as production delays and an active SEC probe, have caused some near-term pressure on Workhorse's valuation over the past year. The company specializes in making purpose-built electric work vans and last-mile delivery drones. This makes strong tailwinds for Workhorse, one of North America's leading electric last-mile delivery vehicle providers. The past 18 months of pandemic-related lockdowns and social distancing measures have accelerated e-commerce adoption, which has inadvertently driven an urgent need for cost-efficient and reliable last-mile delivery transportation solutions. I'm thinking about installing a new hard drive, but that would mean switching over to my old backup laptop for a few days and I haven't been able to summon the nerve to do that. The problems that I was having a few months ago, which also involved Mail being particularly recalcitrant and Time Machine not behaving at all, seem to have been resolved by making sure I have as much free space on my hard drive as possible, presumably to make room for all those temporary files that both apps need. If there is an issue with this system, then resetting it can help improve the performance and reliability of your vehicle. The transmission control module, or TCM, plays an important role in controlling the shifting of your transmission as well as providing data to other systems. In these cases, having a professional reset your TCM or replace it if necessary can help ensure that your vehicle is running at its best. While many people are able to successfully complete their own DIY resetting of their transmission control module, there may be times when a professional technician is needed in order to get the job done correctly. Professional Options for a TCM Reset or Replacement If not, recheck all connections before attempting another reset.Start up your vehicle and test out its performance to ensure that everything is working properly.Leave this disconnected for at least 5 minutes before reconnecting it.Locate the fuse responsible for powering the TCM and disconnect it from the battery or fuse box. There are several steps you should take if you want to attempt a DIY reset: Resetting your TCM doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive if you know how to do it yourself. Additionally, resetting your TCM can help reduce wear and tear on the transmission components by ensuring that they are operating at their optimal levels. This is because the reset will allow the system to relearn how to operate your transmission more efficiently, resulting in smoother shifts and better fuel economy. First, it can help improve the performance and reliability of your vehicle. Resetting your TCM can provide a number of benefits. Additionally, if your car has been in an accident or if you’ve made significant changes to its performance (such as adding a turbocharger) then it’s likely that a full reset will be necessary for optimal performance from the transmission control module. Other times it might be because of an issue with the actual hardware inside your car – such as a faulty sensor or wiring issue – that requires resetting in order for everything to work properly again. Most commonly, this is due to a software update or repair that needs to be made on the system. There are several reasons why you may need to reset your TCM. The TCM monitors all these aspects and helps keep your car running efficiently. This includes how fast you accelerate and decelerate, when you brake, and how much power your vehicle has. It is responsible for controlling the shifting of a vehicle’s transmission, as well as providing data to other systems. The transmission control module, or TCM, is an important part of any vehicle. I'd like to have seen USB 3.2 Gen 2 (or USB 3.1 Gen 2) on here. If you're unfamiliar with USB 3.2 Gen 1, you might know it better as USB 3.1 Gen 1, or USB 3.0, because they're exactly the same and it just keeps getting rebranded. On the left side, there's a USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A port, which gets speeds of 5Gbps. The cool thing about that one is that it's designed to keep the cable out of your way, and you can fold the display back without the cable getting in your way as well. Tucked in the corner there is a second Thunderbolt 4 port. HP always supported the full spec, so nothing is really changing here. The difference is that Thunderbolt 3 had a minimum spec that used two lanes instead of four, supporting half of that, and there was no easy way to know what you were buying. They both support 40Gbps data transfer speeds, or up to two 4K monitors on a single port. That USB Type-C port is Thunderbolt 4, which frankly, isn't all that different from Thunderbolt 3. You'll notice on the right side that there's a microSD slot, a 3.5mm audio jack, and one USB Type-C port. Note that this design is the same as we saw with the last couple of generations of the Spectre x360 14, just adapted for the larger form factor. It also has gem-cut edges, adding to the style that you find in the Spectre x360. You can also see the Pale Bronze hinges in the image above what you can't really see is that the sides are also this color, along with other parts. You'll notice the chrome-colored HP logo stamped in the lid. The Pale Bronze accents actually look silver, so it's very pale. And finally, there's boring old Natural Silver, a color that HP actually killed off one year and then brought back due to popular demand. It also comes in Nightfall Black with Copper Luxe accents, and that one is also stunning. This is actually the first time that the company has sent me a Poseidon Blue Spectre, which is pretty cool. The color of the model that HP sent me is called Poseidon Blue and it has Pale Bronze accents. It's a long way away from the boring old MacBook clones that we still see a lot of, and it's really impressive how it's evolved over the years. This is the type of PC that if you use it in public, people are going to notice it. Honestly, these are great laptops, but the design is absolutely a differentiator. I've said this many times before, but HP's Spectre x360 series is the sexiest line of PCs on the market. |
